Bruce C. Olson is the founding member of Olson Sound Design LLC, a consulting
 firm started in 1991 specializing in acoustical and technical systems 
design for Performing Arts Centers, Recording Studios, and Houses of 
Worship. Prior to this, he worked for 13 years in audio, video and 
acoustical systems design, installation, testing, and project management
 for AVC Systems, a systems contractor in Minneapolis, MN. After over 20
 years of involvement with AFMG Technologies, he founded AFMG Services 
North America LLC in 2014 to support clients in North America. Mr. Olson
 provides advanced training as well as customer support worldwide for 
manufacturers, acoustical consultants, and audio contractors for the 
EASE/AURA/EARS design software and the EASERA/SysTune measurement 
software. As the Chairman of the Audio Engineering Society Standards 
Committee (AESSC), and having served as the Chairman of the AES Working 
Group on Grounding and EMC Practices (SC-05-05), Vice-Chairman of the 
AES Technical Committee for EMC (AESTC-EMC), Governor of the AES, 
President of his local ASA chapter, Chairman of his local AES chapter, 
and member of various other AES standards groups, Bruce is actively 
involved in the latest technology in audio and acoustics. Mr. Olson 
continues as an active musician and is a member of the Ria Saxophone 
Quintet and the Bend in the River Big Band. He is a member of AES, ASA, 
IEEE, SMPTE, Syn-Aud-Con, and has been an invited speaker for sessions, 
workshops, classes and seminars for the AES, AIA, ASA, InfoComm, NAMM, 
NSCA, Syn-Aud-Con, and 
USITT.

Charlie Hughes is the principal consultant at Excelsior Audio. His company, founded in 2004, provides consultation, design, and measurement services primarily to loudspeaker manufacturers. Excelsior Audio also assists Houses of Worship and performance venues with acoustical and electro-acoustical designs and recommendations. Mr. Hughes received a B.Sc. Physics from the Georgia Institute of Technology in 1988. From this time until starting Excelsior Audio he worked as a loudspeaker design engineer at Peavey Electronics and Altec Lansing. He currently has 5 patents issued relating to loudspeaker design and directivity control. Mr. Hughes is a member of the AES, CTA, IEC, and Syn-Aud-Con. He is very active on several AES, CTA, IEC, and InfoComm standards committees, serving as the chairman for CTA R3 WG1. In 2013 he received the CTA Technology Achievement Award for his standards work (formerly CEA). Mr. Hughes’ technical articles on loudspeaker and system designs have been published in Audio Xpress, Australian HiFi, Live Sound, Syn-Aud-Con Newsletter, Voice Coil, and others. He has presented multiple papers and been an invited speaker and panelist at numerous AES conventions, as well as CTA Tech Forums and InfoComm.

Sound System Optimization and Measurement Training, 7-8 October 2019, Minneapolis, MN, USA

This 2-day seminar is both for beginners as well as for advanced system engineers and sound technicians. After the first day participants will be able to make basic measurements and have a general understanding of the tools and techniques used in measurement of sound systems. The second day will then explore more advanced techniques using specific examples of sound systems. Advanced features like windowing, intelligibility, or reverberation time will be included in the topics to explore.
